Registration

Registration will be held on site only. Spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis. Signups and prejudging will take place at the Fandom Workshop Cosplay Competition booth from 11am to 2pm. Contestant categories will be judged based on skill levels following these criteria:

Beginner: If you have competed in less than 5 cosplay/costume related contests or competitions and have never won any awards or prizes.

Intermediate: If you have won any awards or prizes in a cosplay/costume related contest or competition OR if you have competed in 5 or more costume related contests or competitions.

Advanced: I you have won 3 or more cosplay/costume related awards.

Content & Costume Requirements

All entries must be family friendly, and keep a “PG” rating. Actions, dress, or mannerisms that would not be allowed on a public street or setting are not allowed. Specifically, the following must be avoided: sexual gestures, nudity, and swearing. Violating these rules will disqualify the entrant and could result in being escorted off the premises. All entries must also adhere to Santa Rosa Toy Con’s costume and weapon policies.

Costume must be made by the wearer or the creator must be present at the time of judging. Purchased, rented or commissioned costumes or costumes made for the entrant by a designer or seamstress are prohibited in craftsmanship judging. Exemption: “Found Item” pieces are allowed to represent up to 20% of the costume. Examples of this are gloves, shoes or belts. Items may be altered or unaltered.

Stage performance will be walk-on style and consist of walking on as you are introduced striking a pose and then if requested during registration contestants will have the option of having the host describe an aspect of the costume the contested would like to share or be prompted with a question about their costume to answer themselves on stage. Entire stage time for each contestant or group should be limited to no more the 2 minutes. (Brief is best)

Awards & Prizes

Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each skill category with 3 additional judges award certificates to be allotted from each judge.

Awards will be given based on craftsmanship, portrayal of character, and overall creativity.

Please be aware that primary judging will take place during the registration and prejudging portion of the event.
